Who We Are:

If you were to ask us who we are, we would tell you “simply Christians”. But let us expound on that just a little further:

We understand that when it comes to God, we simply do not measure up. His holiness, His awesome, and His perfection leave us with a lack of words and an empty feeling inside. We want so badly to be worthy of His fellowship, but we know that our sin prevents us from doing just that.

That’s where we trust in Jesus Christ. Because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, willingly went to the cross and died, we can fill that void within us caused by sin by knowing that we have eternal life through His sacrifice on the cross. It’s nothing we have done, or possess, or ever will do; it’s simply Jesus Christ and His blood.

Just like somebody from Oklahoma is called a “Oklahoman”, and somebody who eats only vegetables is a “vegetarian”, a follower of Jesus Christ is called a “Christian”. And that’s why we say that we are “simply Christians”. We do our best to wholly devote ourselves to our Savior and living lives that are spent in worship to Him for what He did for us. We try to mimic His love for mankind, His service for all people, and desire to seek and save lost people. Do we still mess up? Sure, but by continuing to trust in Him, we are still “simply Christians.”

Being simply Christians can be difficult in a complex world. The world tells us that we have to be so many different things. We need the most prestigious jobs, the fanciest cars, the biggest houses, the most toys, etc. To be quite honest with you, it’s quite overwhelming when we consider everything that the world tells us we have to be. But at the end of the day, because of Jesus Christ’s great love for us and His sacrifice, and because we know who our lives are devoted to, we take solace and find peace in the fact that we are “simply Christian”.
